Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach and Sedgwick County election officials have asked a court to block the release of voting machine logs.
Kobach contends records sought by Wichita State University mathematician Beth Clarkson aren’t subject to the Kansas open records act, and their disclosure’s prohibited under state law.
Clarkson says what she’s seen so far reflects a troubling trend.
Clarkson thinks there’s enough evidence to suggest machines could have been hacked for the purpose of vote rigging. She’s suing to audit the voting machines.PClarkson said “This is not a random distribution. We are seeing a very definite trend here that the larger the precinct is, the higher the percentage of the Republican vote is.”
Sedgwick County’s Election Commissioner contends supplying the voting logs is “unnecessarily burdensome” because they’re hard to copy.
In Kobcah’s filing last week and made public Monday, the secretary says he’s not the custodian of records kept by the Sedgwick County Elections Commissioner Tabitha Lehman from the November 2014 general election.
